Agricultural research
The MX-20 is particularly well-suited for agricultural inspection. Applications include:
- Grain and seed inspection for viability, infestation, damage or contamination
- Wood rings to evaluate seasonal growth characteristics
- Tree bark to inspect for insect infestation
- Fruit for peel thickness and seed development
The small focal spot x-ray tube and cabinet design enable up to 5X geometric magnification which is necessary for detailed inspection. If a larger field of view is required, the MX-20 can be used with a CR plate and small, upright CR reader to obtain a field of view up to 10" x 12". If even further magnification or higher kV is required for more dense specimens, the LX-60 is available.
